Professional, The “Best” of Care, Fantastic Home-Style Kennel Free Facility, That describes Pampered Pets of Southern Maryland! As a youngster I grew-up in the company of Keeshonds, Elkhounds, and a Lab that I was sure was born to be a sled dog. For years my motto was “Love me, Love my Dog”! Family and professional commitments created a thirty plus year "dogless" void in our lives, that my wife and I recently filled with a wonderful Havanese, Kota, who now shares our home and hearts. Business demands still dictated that some daycare and periodic boarding would be necessity to insure Kota’s well being. To say that we where apprehensive about intrusting the care of our little guy, Kota to just anyone would be an understatement. We “interviewed” no less then five facilities and where on the verge of giving up finding day care/ boarding that met our expectations when we learned of Pampered Pets of Southern Maryland. I would not entrust Kota to care and influence of just anyone and that “Only One” is Retta Toler and her crew at Pampered Pets of Southern Maryland. Retta, with the help of her husband Calvin, and a small tight knit staff have been the heart and sole of Pampered Pets of Southern Maryland for ten years. Their services are outstanding, their care and concern for our four-legged family member is exceptional, and be assured that Retta and company are there for any pet emergency that should arise with nothing less then a “part of the family” attitude. Retta considers her screening process of new applicants for day care and boarding somewhat involved. I consider it exemplary; Pampered Pets of Southern Maryland only accepts pets/owners they consider are a good fit with their existing clientele. I think that is must for our pets to enjoy the benefit of their kennel free facility. Pampered Pets of Southern Maryland is nothing short of superlative. The benefit of the social experence, both from Kota’s interaction with dogs of different temperments and Retta’s interaction with Kota, is turning our littel guy into quite the littel gentleman who is a joy for all to be around. Credentials and Accreditations do not the person(s) make but it is reassuring to know that Arretta is a Veterinary Technician. Both Calvin and Arretta have obtained their Pet Sitter Certification through the Professional United Pet Sitters Association (PUPS) and Pet Sitters International (PSI) they are fully Insured through PSA, LLC. Calvin and Arretta have also obtained their Certification in Red Cross Pet First Aid and are members of Southern Maryland Association of Professional Pet Sitters. Arretta is also an appointed member of the Charles County Commissioner’s Animal Matters Hearing Board. 2011 will be the 20th anniversary of Pampered Pets of Southern Maryland. At the end of day you come home with the felling that your pet is the only pet Retta, Calvin and crew care for, and more importantly Kota is always excited to be there and play with his friends and that is what really matters! view short comment

You were there when we needed you and at such short notice! If your looking for a place for your furry family member I highly recommend Pampered Pets of Southern Maryland. I know our lab was in good hands and was treated like one of their own. Thank you so much again Retta!

We do not know what we would do without Retta and PPSOMD! Mason knows instinctively the days he is supposed to be at daycare and refuses to do anything else but get in the car on those days! Heaven help us if we don't get him to daycare...we pay the price as he is one unhappy pup!When we pull in the driveway he is scratching and butting his head on the window to get out of the car as he is so exci... view full comment

We feel so blessed to have become part of the Pampered Pets of Southern Maryland family. It truly feels like we are all part of an extended family, or "puppy-in-laws" as Retta refers to us. Ty loves his day care days with all his buddies, and on those occasions when we do have to leave him for a few days, there are no worries. We know that he is in a safe and loved environment.

We are so glad we found Retta and PPSOMD. My high energy Boxer, Boomer, has really turned over a new leaf and can play with groups of dogs and have a great time. When my wife takes him for daycare, Boomer gets excited because he knows the road to Retta's house! He literally jumps out of the car when he gets there and see's Retta. As a Jack Russell, Jake's got tons of energy to spare, so the daycare at Pampered Pets is the perfect way for him to get it all out while I'm at work, and I don't have to worry about him getting bored and causing mayhem at home. PPSOMD is without a doubt the best doggie hotel / day care in the NOVA / MD / DC area. My 2 dogs love going there and I know that when I leave them with Retta, they are in the best hands possible. My dogs are exhausted for days after coming back from PPSOMD. She is truly passionate about dogs and knows how to treat them. Pepper and Pebbles wish they could be there everyday.

We are so glad we found Pampered Pets! Aretta and family work extremely hard to keep all the pets well cared for. When we go on vacation I tell the kids Dobby is too! When he comes home he is a happy, tired pup!!

We, without hesitation, rank Retta and her family with their home style accomodations "The Best of the Best!" Snickers usually suffers from seperation anxiety but when he is with PPSOMD it is like he doesn't even know we are gone, frequent updated pictures and video through facebook are a definite bonus as well. view short comment

Excellent choice for our baby, a true home away from home. "Aunt Retta" cares for each of the pups like they are her children, she is experienced and loving, her and her family exceed every expectation in the care they provide for our baby in a safe, loving, secure home environment, we would never consider another place for our baby!
