Dog Boarding Facilities in Florida

My girlfriend and I purchased a puppy there in the summer of 2008. We knew her as Emma, they knew her as puppy # 441(I believe). The two female owners assured us of their high standards regarding health, selection, and longevity of life. Although we had not heard the best information regarding local pet stores in general, they seemed to care so much for their puppies and store that we bought into their assurances. Emma was a beautiful 5 lb. Maltese. Unfortunately, wherever she came from, beauty over health was demanded. Just recently Emma began to suffer from seizures. At first we thought, and hoped, it was just a form of epilepsy. This was not the case, Emma had a neurological and genetic disease (this from two vets and a neurology specialist). The disease was similar to a form of encephalitis. After several heart-wrenching weeks with our struggling, and weakening, Emma, we were basically advised that nothing could be done. Emma had to be put to rest over this past weekend, she was suffering dearly, having as many as 9 seizures per day. We gave Emma all of our love from beginning to end. Both watching her suffer and being forced to see the poor little girl be put to sleep was something nobody should have to go through. I highly doubt this is an isolated incident, and would not advise anybody to take the risk of purchasing a puppy from this establishment or any other place that will not disclose the dog's lineage. We will always remember Emma for the wonderful times we had with her. But, eventually, we will be ready to welcome a new dog into our home. This time, however, the dog will be from a reputable licensed breeder. I'm sure many others have gone through this and know how painful it is. For those who haven't and are searching for a puppy, avoid this. Do not purchase from here. Do your research and purchase from a reputable breeder.
