I would not recommend camp bow wow in Jacksonville, FL to anyone. In the beginning, I appreciated that they wanted to know a lot of information via their new customer form and requested the necessary vet records. I also liked that there would be an interview/trial run to ensure my dog would get along with everyone before they would make me a permanent client. However, when I got there, it was pure chaos. There was not enough staff to handle the dogs. They wouldn't even let me tour the facility first. They took my dog for an evaluation without letting me accompany my dog. I kept saying I wanted a tour of the facility, and they said I could get one after his evaluation. One person said four hours, and after several times of asking, finally someone said in ten minutes. When I finally was allowed to go back there, the smell knocked me off balance. I had to cover my nose and mouth. The indoor facility was overcrowded with most dogs stuck in cages while only a few dogs were allowed to run in a little indoor play ground, and I didn't see any dogs playing in the small outdoor area. All of the dogs were in one loft like area, so the barking was deafening. It didn't help that the handlers were yelling so loud that I could hear them inside. I can't imagine any dog being able to nap or sleep with the constant chaos. There's also a doorbell in the back that goes off that sets off all the dogs at night as well. When I saw my dog after 10 minutes, he was jumping at me like I've never seen him before with this look of get me the heck out of here. I had a bad feeling the minute I walked in there. Another new potential client came in right after me, and when he saw his dogs getting humped and dominated on the computer screen during his dogs' evaluation, he immediately pulled his dogs and cancelled. I also pulled my dog and cancelled. If I was stressed out in just 10 minutes of watching this unprofessional and over packed facility try to function, I can't imagine what my dog went through not knowing what was going on. By the way, please tell one of the handlers that when asking if their dog has had breakfast, the correct grammar is "has your dog eaten?" not "has your dog ate?" Right then I knew I wasn't dealing with professionals and needed to get the heck out of there. view short comment
